Target Audience

The target audience for my designs are ages 16-25. This is because it is the same age range this type of music is listened to by. Genders would be mainly boys but can easily be targeted towards both genders. Their interests will be listening to music, and the production of music. They would also be interested in artists like J.Cole and SZA as they are the same R&B music style. Their spending power will be around £350 a month, and they would work in either retail or the restaurant industry.

Rationale

The reason my designs fit this category because of how the style is fairly similar to the previous designs by Frank Ocean. It is similar to his other albums in a number of ways. The bright orange used can be referenced back to his older album 'Channel Orange', where I used the same shade of orange to colour in the car. He has also used a similar car in his previous album 'Nostalgia', and the same colour motorcycle in the album cover for 'unreleased MISC. The typography is also similar to his as he tends to use a different font for both the title and his name. I think the way it looks visually would appeal to males more because of the car and the dark bold colours. A lot of album covers include cars, especially of this type, and Ocean is known for being interested in these old types of cars as well as bright bold colours like orange and green. The typeface of my designs are fairly small and bright, which older adults may find difficult to read, which is why it would work better for younger audiences.

5) Overall, do you think these designs represent the album and promote them well? What would you change? (1 skipped)

- I think that these designs represent and promote the artist well, but to improve the designs I would change the matte of the car to be slightly less shiny as it attracts away from the main focus of the image.
